3 Year Old Class
Children work on functioning away from their parents and within a group of like-aged children. The basic colors, shapes, and numbers are also introduced to children in this class. Children in the three-year old class work to recognize their own names, join in songs and word plays related to various themes, and work on craft skills like cutting, coloring, and pasting.
In the three-year old class, the following concepts are covered throughout the school year:
Social Development
- Can function away from parents
- Interacts with other children in individual and cooperative play
- Respects rights and privacy of others
- Shares toys
- Willingly helps clean-up after free play
- Understands and follows directions easily (lining up for activities, waiting one’s turn)
- Participated willingly in group activities (active time, show and tell, singing)
- Can join in singing songs related to various themes
- Is eager for story time and maintains attention during this time
Language Skills and Reading Readiness
- Speaks clearly
- Expresses self well in words
- Has adequate vocabulary
- Recognizes own name
- Introduced to rhyming words
Visual skills and Math Readiness
- Recognizes and is able to name basic colors
- Recognizes and is able to name basic shapes
- Introduced to number 1-15
Fine Motor Skills
- Can cut with scissors
- Is familiar with craft skills like coloring, painting and lacing
Gross Motor Skills
- Can control bodily movements as in skipping, running, jumping, and hopping
Behavioral Development
- Controls temper
- Able to put on coat, sweater and jacket
Available for children who will be 3 years old before September 1 of the current year.
Tuition
2 sessions – $160.00 per month
Enrollment for a 3rd session – $190.00 per month
Meeting Time
Meets two days a week (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday) from 9-11:30 a.m.
If enough students are interested, an optional third day (Friday) is available for three-year olds.
